Astrological Combinations & Yogas for Weak Eyesight and Headaches

According to astrology, planets, nakshatras and houses are the significators of various organs and body parts. Certain malefic planetary combinations and aspects occurring in a particular house of the natal chart can give rise to problems related to that specific house in their Dashas (Mahadasha/ Antardarsha / Pratyantar dasha). Figuring out the root cause of a problem will help in substantially reducing or nullifying its harmful effects. To understand the astrological combinations responsible for weak eyesight and even headaches/ migraines, we first need to know the houses, nakshatras, zodiac signs and planets which represent eyes and head in astrology.

Important houses concerning weak eyesight, headaches/ migraines and diseases-
Houses controlling eyes and head in astrology

  1. The first house or the ascendant/ Lagna represents the head and eyes of the native. Any malefic aspect on the first house will result in weak eyes and problems related to head and face. Migraines and headaches are common when the first house is afflicted.
  2. The second house of natal chart represents the right eye of the native. Bad planets and their aspects on second house will badly reduce the eyesight. 
  3. The twelfth house represents the left eye of the native. Poor eyesight in left eye is the result of problems in this house. 
While making predictions about the eyesight of an individual, generally second house is considered to be the best indicator.

Nakshatras concerned with eyes and head-

  1. Bharani Nakshatra- Bharani nakshatra is the second Nakshatra. It has 4 padas, falling in the zodiac sign of Aries, and it extends from 13 degrees 20 minutes to 23 degrees 40 minutes. Its Nakshatra Lord is Venus and ruling deity is Yam. Placement of certain planets in this nakshatra like the sun, gives poor eyesight right from childhood. 
  2. Kritika Nakshatra- Kritika nakshatra is the third Nakshatra and it occurs right after Bharani nakshatra. It also has 4 padas, the first pada falls under zodiac sign of Aries and the next three under the sign of Taurus. It extends from 23 degrees 40 minutes to 30 degrees. Its Nakshatra Lord is Sun (Hence, Sun is very powerful in this nakshatra) and ruling deity is Agni. This nakshatra naturally represents the power of eyesight, if this nakshatra gets afflicted then the eyesight becomes very poor.

Important planets concerned with eyesight and headaches-

  1. Sun- As indicated above, Sun is responsible for the eyes of a person. It also represents the face and head. Natives with strong sun have a natural glow on their face, they will be able to attract the masses with their charisma and charm. Placement of sun in the first house or the seventh house ( with aspect/ drishti on first house) is like looking directly into the powerful light of Sun which can ultimately weaken the eyes. Sun with higher degrees (12-24 degrees) in this placement will result in more damage to the eyesight. This placement sometimes also leads to insomnia. Whenever the Sun gets afflicted with malefic planets ( lords of 6th / 8th house) or its natural enemies ( Venus, Saturn) will also result in poor eyesight and severe headaches. 
  2. Moon- Apart from Sun, Moon is the next planet which gives the idea about the eyesight of a person. A debilitated moon (moon in Scorpio or Vishakha nakshatra) gives rise to poor eyesight. Weak moon or afflicted moon causes headaches due to cough and cold.
  3. Mars- Mars is another planet involved in causing headaches. Headaches due to mars are like Cluster Headaches occurring in a definite pattern with intense pain. Mars rules the first zodiac sign- Aries and thus represents head. 
  4. Saturn- Saturn is indirectly involved in causing headaches. It causes problems associated with nerves and thereby results in headaches and migraines.
  5. Jupiter- Jupiter is a naturally benefic planet but under malefic influence it affects the digestive system of the person resulting in headaches due to flatulance or indigestion.

Zodiac Signs* and body parts-

  1. Aries- the first sign of zodiac, represents head.
  2. Taurus- Face
  3. Leo- Stomach
*Note- The placement of only bad planets in these zodiac signs will result in problems associated with the respective body parts. Having these zodiac signs as your sun/moon/rising signs does not necessarily mean that you'll suffer from disease concerned with that part.

Astrological Combinations/ Yogas for Weak Eyesight and Headaches-

  1. Sun in conjunction with Rahu/ Ketu.
  2. Sun in conjunction with retrograde Venus or Saturn
  3. Aspect of Saturn/ retrograde Venus on Sun.
  4. Moon in conjunction with Rahu/ Ketu
  5. Rahu/Ketu in bharani/ kritika nakshatra 
  6. Lords of 6th/8th houses in bharani/ kritika nakshatra.
  7. Debilitation of planets in bharani/ kritika nakshatras or in Aries
  8. Lord of 2nd house placed in debilitated sign in 3rd/6th/8th house.
  9. Malefic planet present in 6th/8th house having aspect on 2nd house or its lord.
  10. Conjunction of lords of 2nd house with 6th /8th house lords.
  11. 6th / 8th house lord placed in 2nd house.
  12. Children born on or close to the dates of solar/ lunar eclipse usually have problems associated with eyes.

Important points to note-

  1. Having more than one combination in the natal chart will result in severe reduction in eyesight and intense headaches.
  2. The effects of these combinations are seen during the Vimshottari dashas (Mahadasha/ Antardarsha / Pratyantar dasha) of the affecting planets.
  3. Temporary problems can be observed when certain planets (eg- Rahu, Ketu, Sun) transit over your 1st/2nd/12th houses. Extra precaution should be taken during such planetary transitions.
  4. A strong second house in spite of the presence of above combinations will nullify the negative yogas and the eyesight of the native will not be compromised.
  5. Aspect/Drishti of a benefic planet (eg- Lagna lord) on the 1st/ 2nd/ 12th house strengthens these houses and thus nullifies the negative yogas.
  6. If the above listed combinations are present in your natal chart then you should take special care of your eyesight and health.
